The City is proud to be a recipient of the Australian Early Development Census (AEDC) Grants Program, an initiative funded by the Commonwealth Government in partnership with the Western Australian Government and the Western Australian Local Government Association (WALGA).

The Zig Zag AEDC Project has been awarded a grant of $57,954. This funding will bring a renewed focus for programs targeted at the early years and support the priority areas identified in the Kalamunda Futures: Youth Plan 2023-2028.

The project will enhance community connections, promote information sharing, and deliver empowerment initiatives for families and young children in the City of Kalamunda.

Mayor Margaret Thomas emphasised the impact the funding will have for the early years sector and families “Young people are the future of this community and the early years lay the foundation for how our children transition into school, early adulthood and beyond”.

“This project represents a significant step forward in the City’s commitment to ensuring the best possible start for our youngest residents”.

Priority areas include building capacity of the Zig Zag Early Years Network to provide advocacy and connection within the community, support providers to align their activities within the AEDC focus areas, connect parents and families with information and support and deliver targeted programs to address identified barriers and opportunities.
