The City of Kalamunda's location is ideal for all types of cycling and caters for all levels of experience.

Be aware, predictable and courteous. Avoid distractions while walking, cycling and driving on our roads, shared paths, trails and footpaths.
The City encourages all persons to Share the Space.

Kalamunda Railway Heritage Trail

This trail route celebrates the previous railway track which combines trails suited for both walking and cycling. Visitors can experience the amazing flora and fauna of the Perth Hills.

The is a dual use trail. Cyclists are welcome however please ride slowly and share the space. Please obey these directions for everyone's safety and enjoyment.


  • Mountain Bike Trails: Easy - Medium.
    • Kalamunda to Lesmurdie Road - Easy 
    • Remaining Trail: Medium.

The trail is currently divided into four sections, each based on having suitable parking access, thus being places where people will naturally start or finish a trail.

Kalamunda Mountain Bike Collective

One of the most popular destinations in WA which covers over 40km of fully signed single-track. This trails area is situated in both National and State Forest.

All trails are based on International Mountain Bike Association grading standards.

  • BLACK DIAMOND = Difficult
  • BLUE SQUARE = Intermediate

There are four main parking areas located off Mundaring Weir Road:

  • Calamunda Camel Farm: Toilets and Bike Repair available
  • Farrell Grove: Toilets available
  • Black Stump
  • The Dell: Toilets available

Destination Perth: Perth Hills Cycle Trails

Destination Perth have put together a range of information showcasing a number of cycle attractions for both the leisure cyclist to the mountain biker.

Trail information provided on:

  • Munda Biddi Bike Trail: approx. distance 582km to Manjimup
  • The Kep Track: approx. distance 75km Mundaring to Northam
  • Railway Reserves Heritage Trail: approx. distance 41km - follows the old Eastern Railway
  • Four Trails Ride: approx. distance 67km - starting in Midland to Armadale
  • Mason and Bird Heritage Trail: approx. distance 7km - follows the 1870 Mason Mill tram way route
  • Kalamunda Railway Heritage Trail: approx. distance 6.5km from Walliston to Zig Zag Drive

Established in 2012, Trails WA is making it easier for people to find information on the trails available in WA. 

Cycle: Showcasing a range of cycling guides and maps covering most of the Perth region. 

Mountain Bike: Offering varying tracks and degrees of difficulty including details on the Munda Biddi Trail.

Follow My Ride

Started in 2014, to help people discover, prepare and plan for off road bike rides in WA. With primary focus initially given to the Munda Biddi Trail, this has expanded to include other rides and information from various persons who cycle the trails.

Munda Biddi Trail is approximately a 1000km road cycling trail from Mundaring to Albany often using old rail trails/forms. This ride highlights much history and showcases natural beauty of our WA state.
