- End-to-end planning expertise – hands-on experience delivering the full range of planning and development services, including working with Local Planning Schemes and associated policies.
- A strong planning foundation – strong knowledge of statutory requirements and legislation relevant to Local Government, particularly in the world of statutory planning and corporate governance.
- Supportive team player and mentor – the ability (or strong desire) to guide, support, and mentor junior planners, fostering skill development, confidence, and a positive team culture.
- Calm, organised, and deadline-savvy – excellent time-management skills and the ability to juggle competing priorities while meeting tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- A confident communicator – the ability to clearly present advice, guidance, and research outcomes in both written and verbal form, across all standard business formats (emails, reports, letters, draft policies and procedures,
and the occasional engaging presentation).
- Confident decision maker – experience assessing development applications and preparing clear, well-reasoned determinations.
- People-focused problem solver – proven ability to liaise and negotiate with applicants to achieve positive, practical development outcomes.
- Future-focused contributor – under guidance, research and help prepare planning scheme amendments, structure plans, and planning policies that shape the future of the community.
- Big-picture contributor – assess subdivision and strata applications and prepare professional recommendations to the Western Australian Planning Commission.
Hours of Work
This is a permanent full-time position working Monday to Friday, 75 hours per fortnight.
We also offer flexible work arrangements and the option for a rostered day off.
