Plants for Residents

Plants for Residents provides free plants to residents of the City of Kalamunda to support the establishment of natural habitat in backyards and verges across the City and improve our urban canopy.

All plants are tube stock or smaller. The program aims to promote the re-vegetation of residential and rural properties with local native trees, shrubs and groundcovers. Planting not only improves landscape quality but also provides an array of environmental benefits such as shade, carbon sequestration and shelter for birds, reptiles and small mammals.

The 2022 program saw 50 different varieties of local native plant species totalling over 13,000 seedlings given to residents.

2023 PROGRAM - plant reservations go live 9am, Wednesday 3 May!

The 2023 Plants for Residents program will be conducted online under a ‘click and pick’ model, with the option for residents to select their preferred scheduled timeslot for choosing their plants.

  • Households can select up to 15 native plants.  There is a limit of two (2) plants per species per order.
  • One order per household only. First order received will be deemed the valid order.
  • Plant reservations open 9am on Wednesday 3 May
  • Plant reservations close 5pm on Monday, 22 May 2023, or until all plants are allocated.
  • Pick up times will be 45-minute timeslots on Saturday, 27 May 2023 between 8am - 12pm.
Residents can only order from ONE timeslot and attend this timeslot.
There will be 15-minute intervals between each session. This interval is designed to ensure plant re-stocking for fair distribution of plants across all timeslots. Each timeslot has the same number of plants.

If your plant preference is exhausted in one timeslot, please check other timeslots to see if there is still availability.

Plants will be distributed evenly over all available timeslots to ensure there is fair distribution of all plant species regardless of the timeslot selected by a resident. NOTE: Plants in each timeslot are allocated on a first ordered basis. Residents are only permitted to select ONE timeslot for plant collection. Unfortunately City staff cannot hold, reserve or deliver plants.

One order per household only. First order received will be deemed the valid order.
NOTE: Residents can only select ONE timeslot for plant ordering and collection.
