It is mandatory to have your permit on hand when trading and to show it to authorised City Officers such as Rangers and Environmental Health Officers, when requested.
This is to ensure any activities in public places occur at locations that have been assessed for safety, access and so that activities do not adversely impact on the amenity of the area or cause nuisance.
Please refer to the Trading on Thoroughfares or Public Places Policy for permit conditions and location details.
Businesses must comply with the conditions of their permit and the Trading in Thoroughfares and Public Places Trading Local Law 2008.
It is important that you notify the City Environmental Health Services Department with any changes you wish to make to your trading activities. This includes change of hours (increase as well as decrease), type of goods you are selling, or stall set up.
There are two fees associated with a Trading in Public Places permit, as outlined in the fee schedule on the City’s website.
Options include a trial period of 3 months and seasonal trading dates. This will be charged pro rata, on a seasonal basis. For example, if you only intend to trade for from January to June, then your annual fee will be reduced by 50%.
The City has pre-assessed locations for trading. Please view these in the trading in Public Places Policy. Once you have identified the location where you wish to operate you can complete application below.
NOTE: All credit card payments incur a 0.46% surcharge. Amex is NOT accepted.
