The City of Kalamunda is thrilled to celebrate 60 years of Kalamunda Water Park, a cherished community icon. Opening for the season on 18 November 2024, the Water Park invites the community to dive into decades of family fun, cherished memories, and nostalgic charm.

Since its debut in March 1964, Kalamunda Water Park – also previously known as "Kalamunda Wet n Wild" – has been a beloved destination for generations. Over the years, this much-loved facility has preserved its natural appeal, providing locals a place to cool off, relax, and create lifelong memories. In 1981, two enclosed water slides were installed, expanding the Water Park’s facilities and transforming it into a summertime destination.

Mayor Margaret Thomas reflected on the park’s legacy, saying, “For 60 years, Kalamunda Water Park has been a place where families, friends, and visitors come together to enjoy the unique beauty of Kalamunda. This water park has not only provided countless memories but has become an iconic symbol of our community’s spirit and togetherness.”

“This milestone is a testament to the fondness our community holds for Kalamunda Water Park. We’re excited to invite everyone to celebrate this iconic attraction, whether it’s by reliving memories, enjoying the pools, or sharing past photos and stories.”

The Water Park has seen several refurbishments over the years to maintain its charm and enhance essential amenities. In 2011, the City invested $3 million in upgrades, including improvements to change rooms, the toddler pool, and repairs to the main and junior pools. The slides were temporarily closed for maintenance during the 2022/23 season and reopened for the community in time for the 2023/24 season.

As part of the celebration, Kalamunda Library will showcase an archival photo display covering the park’s history, and a special birthday celebration event is planned for Sunday, 26 January 2025.

The community is invited to share their memories, photos, and stories on the City’s online engagement portal:  https://engage.kalamunda.wa.gov.au/KWP60.
