Correction to Vacant Land GRV Rates for 2026/27

28 October 2026 10:32 AM

The City of Kalamunda has corrected an administrative error affecting the 2026/27 Vacant Land Gross Rental Value (GRV) differential rate.

The issue related to a legislative requirement associated with the rate in the dollar applied to properties within the Vacant Land GRV rating category. Following legal advice and an application to the State Administrative Tribunal (SAT), the affected rate has been corrected and Council has adopted revised rates and an amended budget.

The correction affects 469 Vacant Land GRV properties. Affected ratepayers have been contacted directly and provided with updated rates information.

The financial impact to the City is approximately $32,140 in reduced rates revenue. There is no impact on City services, projects or the capital works program.

Affected property owners may choose to receive a refund or leave the adjustment as a credit on their rates account.

The City has undertaken this process to ensure compliance with legislative requirements and has implemented additional checks to strengthen future rating processes.
