The City of Kalamunda is excited to invite community members to participate in the next stage of planning for the proposed High Wycombe Community Hub (the Hub). City staff are buzzing with anticipation to meet residents in a series of engagement opportunities including pop-ups and workshops across the district.
To
build momentum, the City has created a short comedic social media video
that epitomises the energy that the unprecedented proposed Hub will give the
whole region. The City is also embarking on a significant promotional sweep of
the City to generate substantial community responses. This feedback will create
a vision that will play an important role in shaping the design, place making,
public art, and project priorities.
Pop-up engagement sessions will be held at:
- Hawaiian’s Forrestfield Shopping Centre – Thursday, 16 October 2025, 9:30am to 2:00pm
- Kalamunda Farmers Market – Sunday, 19 October 2025, 8:00am to 12:00pm
- High Wycombe Station – Tuesday, 21 October 2025, 4:00pm to 7:00pm.
- Hartfield Park Recreation Centre – Wednesday, 5 November 2025, 10:00am to 12:00pm
Community workshops will be held at:
- Woodlupine Community Centre – Main Hall (88 Hale Road, Forrestfield) – Thursday, 23 October 2025, 2:00pm to 4:00pm
- Kalamunda Community Centre – Main Hall (2 Crescent Road, Kalamunda) – Thursday, 30 October 2025, 5:30pm to 7:30pm
- Cyril Road Hall (58 Cyril Road, High Wycombe) – Wednesday, 5 November 2025, 5:30pm to 7:30pm.
The City will also run a community survey to understand the community’s vision for how the proposed Hub can meet future needs. The Community Survey will open on 5 October and will close 5 November 2025.
City of Kalamunda Mayor Margaret Thomas said the project is about building a future-ready facility that reflects the needs and aspirations of the community. “The Hub is a once-in-a-generation project, and it is vital that our residents are part
of the conversation about its design and delivery. This proposed facility would have significant impacts on place, health and wellbeing and how the community connects with each other. We encourage everyone to come along, share their thoughts, and
help shape a facility that will serve our community for decades to come,” she said.
Stage 1 of the proposed Hub is one of the City’s most significant projects and will be built with funding support from the Australian and Western Australian governments.
It will include an aquatic and recreation centre with indoor and outdoor pools, gym facilities, wellness amenities, and flexible community spaces for events, programs, and social connection. The project also features landscaped open spaces and more than
200 car bays to support accessibility and sustainable integration.
