A difficult loop walk in the Mundy Regional Park with some steep climbs and steep loose descents. In late winter and early spring, there are magnificent wild flowers on this walk

Trail Notes
Start point: The car park at the northern end of Lewis Road.
1. Go to the right of the white gate past the Mundy Regional Park sign, walking in a northerly direction. Keep to the right of the fence and continue down to the creek straight ahead. Cross Whistlepipe creek and make a steep climb up a loose stony track.
2. At the top of the climb, turn right and continue uphill. There are views to the City and the Swan Coastal Plain. The white building with the terracotta tiled roof in the near foreground is the Greek Orthodox Church. The large silos in the middle distance are the Perth Grain Centre.
3. After climbing the hill through Wandoo country, you will strike Panoramic Terrace. Turn right here and continue up the hill.
4. Reach the junction of Panoramic Terrace and Ozone Road; continue straight ahead on Ozone Road around the brow of the hill. The suburb of Forrestfield can be seen to the right as well as the City & Swan Coastal Plain.
5. Leave Ozone Road and proceed through the white gate at the Mundy Regional Park sign. The decent here is steep and loose, care should be taken.
6. Ignore a track that branches off to the left and continue down hill to the creek.
7. Cross the bridge and head uphill on a track through mostly mature Wandoo trees.
8. Ignore a track that comes in from left and continue uphill.
9. Approach a fork in the track; go right and follow the Shire of Kalamunda walk trail sign which has an arrow pointing to the right and red paint in the corner. The forest here has changed to red gum and small jarrah.
10. Skirt to the right of some houses and cross a stone stormwater drain. Continue along the trail with views to Perth airport, the City and industrial suburbs of Welshpool and Kewdale.
11. A walk trail enters from the left; continue straight ahead following the Shire of Kalamunda sign and the red walk trail sign. In late winter and spring, this area has beautiful wildflowers.
12. Reach a T-junction, take the right fork. Continue in northerly direction. There are views along the Darling Scarp to Midland Junction and the northern suburbs.
13. At this point, the walk leaves the well formed track and goes on a narrow footpath through the bush. Look for a red walk sign on a tree to the left and large Shire of Kalamunda sign on a tree to the right. This point is opposite a large concrete tank. This track is little more than a footpad through the scrub, and leads downhill to the start point at the Lewis Road car park
To help reduce the spread of Phytophthora Dieback:
- Don’t spread soil or mud around bushland, in particular during spring & autumn;
- Stick to tracks & paths;
- Observe signage in your local bushland reserve and stay out of quarantined areas in bushland.
