City's Latest Response to COVID-19
The City of Kalamunda has implemented a number of changes to venues and facilities in response to the announcement by the State Government regarding restrictions for Perth and the Peel region until 12.01am Saturday 1 May, 2021.
All residents are reminded to wear a mask, use hand sanitiser and check-in using the SafeWA app.
The City’s Administration Building has reopened to the public however, many City enquiries and payments can be made online or by phone on 9257 9999, and we encourage our residents and customers to use these options. City Libraries, Perth Hills Visitor Centre and Zig Zag Gallery are also open, with a 20-person capacity.
Bookable halls and venues have reopened as per the regular booking process, the City notes that no bookings of more than 20 people can be accommodated currently. People and groups hiring City venues will be responsible for managing the restrictions as outlined by the State Government. Weddings and funerals can apply for exemptions from the State to allow up to 100 persons.
Outdoor sporting venues have reopened for community sport but spectators will not be allowed at venues.
Playgrounds, parks and outdoor gym equipment have reopened however users should maintain physical distancing and wear masks.
Waste and general recycling bin collections will continue as normal and the Walliston Transfer Station will return to normal operating hours.
Hartfield Park Recreation Centre and other recreation centre facilities will remain closed, pending further announcements. Kalamunda Performing Arts Centre is open for tickets and booking enquiries, however there are no shows during the restriction period due to the limit on numbers at the venue.
Mayor Margaret Thomas reminds the community we all need to work together to help stop the spread of COVID-19.
“Please check yourself against the list of high-risk and potential COVID-19 exposure sites listed at www.wa.gov.au. If you visited one of the locations, please get tested. Testing at COVID-19 clinics is free,” Cr Thomas said.
“If you are visiting any City facilities, masks are to be worn at all times and please demonstrate appropriate hygiene standards, follow physical distancing rules and register via the SafeWA App or the paper register available.”
