Local Planning Strategy

The Purpose of The City of Kalamunda’s Local Planning Strategy is to enable Council to determine the vision and strategic planning direction for the City of Kalamunda for the next twenty (20) years, to coincide with Directions 2031.

The City of Kalamunda has developed a comprehensive Local Planning Strategy. The Local Planning Strategy was adopted at a Special Meeting of Council on 3 October 2011 subject to a number of modifications to the draft Strategy. The changes were applied to the document and forwarded to the Western Australian Planning Commission for endorsement.

The Local Planning Strategy was endorsed by the Western Australian Planning Commission in February 2013.

A new Local Planning Strategy is currently being drafted to consolidate the City’s current sub-strategies, and to inform planning directions and preparation of a new Local Planning Scheme No. 4, to replace the current Local Planning Scheme No. 3.  Strategic briefings with Council and consultation with the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage and other stakeholders are continuing as drafting progresses.
