Film night: 'In My Own Words'
04 September 2020 : 6:00 PM - 04 September 2020 : 7:30 PM
'In My Own Words' follows the journey of adult Aboriginal students and their teachers as they discover the transformative power of reading and writing for the first time.
September 4th is Indigenous Literacy Day and we encourage you to join us in the evening at High Wycombe Library for a screening of the powerful documentary film 'In My Own Words'.
The focus of the documentary is on a classroom in Brewarinna, a rural northwest NSW town with a majority Aboriginal population. Filming every day of the 13-week Literacy for Life Foundation course, director Erica Glynn captures the women and men, hardship and resilience, friendship and humour behind the sobering statistics of illiteracy in Aboriginal adults.
Light refreshments will be provided.
