Mayor John Giardina said, “The completely free event is designed to get people moving and more socially connected, with a range of activities and information on offer from local sporting, community and recreation groups.”

“The City held the first events of this nature, have a Go Hartfield, in 2018, with more than 800 people coming along to find out more about what was on offer in our community.”

“These events are important, and help the community to further understand the Act Belong Commit message.”

Attendees will enjoy a variety of events and information stalls such as arts and crafts, silent disco, face painting, pickle ball, kickboxing, music performances, cooking demonstrations and more.

Highlights include a Cultural Walk with elder Neville Collard demonstrating indigenous culture and bush tucker at Hartfield Park, plus attendees can enjoy learning to play music in a drum and guitar workshop by Focus Music.

Activities are designed to appeal to all ages and to different levels of physical ability. Comfortable footwear is recommended. Being active, having a sense of belonging and having a purpose in life all contribute to happiness and good mental health.

Act-Belong-Commit is a unique, evidence-based mental health promotion program applicable to the whole community. It was created in Western Australia, and has now expanded to other states and globally.

In essence, Act-Belong-Commit aims to increase individual and community wellbeing by increasing and strengthening connections between community members. This is achieved by encouraging participation in family, cultures, community events and organisations, and increasing collaboration between community organisations that offer activities conducive to good mental health and wellbeing.
