The program provides thousands of dollars each year to community groups and organisations to support events that benefit the local community or promote the region to a wider audience.

Mayor Margaret Thomas  said the program has helped groups deliver some great projects raising both their profile and support from the community.

“Our Community Event Donation and Sponsorship Program has helped local not-for-profit groups and organisations, including sporting clubs and cultural groups bring their event ideas to life,” said Cr Thomas.

“In the past, we’ve allocated funding to sporting groups, the arts community, dramatic societies, small music festivals, food events, seniors and youth programs.

“We have such a vibrant and amazing community and creating events that celebrate the arts and culture, sport and recreation as well as food and tourism is a high priority for the City.”

The program forms part of the City's Community Engagement and Events Strategies, which aims to provide the community and its visitors with opportunities to attend and participate in a range of dynamic events, unique experiences and cultural activities.
