Raising children in a digital world
*** NOTE: This event has been CANCELLED - due to current health advice this event is cancelled *** With the rapid rise in devices, screens, apps and games, children are having a very different exposure to technology than their parents – so how can we relate to this huge generational shift in the use of devices? The City of Kalamunda is inviting parents and carers with children aged 4-12 to a special information session on 24 March 2020 about children’s exposure to technology and how to handle it.
“We know there is a huge generational shift in the use of devices,” Kalamunda Mayor Margaret Thomas said. “What we want to do is equip parents with the latest research so they can confidently manage their children’s use of technology in the home.”
The seminar is run by Communicare and will cover dependence on technology and how it impacts children during periods of physical, emotional and mental development along with possible consequences surrounding what they view, who they connect with and the impact of long periods of sitting stationary.
“We know parents worry about online safety,” Ms Thomas said. “This seminar will help parents to increase their awareness of the areas to be careful and some of the latest trends and issues.”
“We urge parents with children in primary school to come to the Kalamunda Performing Arts Centre and find out more about raising children in a digital world.”
The Event will be held at Kalamunda Performing Arts Centre, 48 Canning Rd, Kalamunda WA 6076
Light supper available from 6:30-7:00pm. Ticket Cost: $10 - includes take home resource packs.
