Have Your Say - 2020/2021 Differential Rates Advertised

17 June 2020 12:00 PM

The City of Kalamunda is seeking feedback from ratepayers on the proposed differential rates for 2020/2021 as part of its Draft Budget.

Details of the proposed Minimum Rates and Rate in the Dollar for each rating category are available online at engage.kalamunda.wa.gov.au.

In addition, a statement of the Objects and Reasons for the proposed rates and minimum payments are also available for inspection at the City Administration Centre and City libraries during normal opening hours.

Mayor Margaret Thomas said Council had set the requirement for a zero increase in overall Rate revenue at a Special Council Meeting on 7 April 2020. To achieve a zero increase in Rate revenue, the rate in the dollar was amended accordingly taking into account the State Government deciding to implement changes to Gross Rental Value of properties during this time.

“The approach taken to create the City’s 2020/2021 Draft Budget is consistent with instructions received from both the Premier and Minister for Local Government,” Cr Thomas said.

“Council will continue to work with City staff to develop and implement initiatives and programs that lessen the impact of COVID-19 on our community and the local economy.”

Before making its final determination on differential ratings, Council is required to consider community feedback submitted during the advertising period.

Submissions can be made online at engage.kalamunda.wa.gov.au, emailed to enquiries@kalamunda.wa.gov.au or posted to the Chief Executive Officer, City of Kalamunda, PO Box 42, Kalamunda, 6926.
Comments close 5pm Monday 22 June 2020.
