City’s Facilities Set To Re-Open Following Five-Day Lockdown
The City of Kalamunda’s facilities, including libraries, halls and recreation centres, will re-open from Saturday, 6 February 2021, with interim restrictions in place to protect community and staff.
Mayor Margaret Thomas confirmed the City’s position this afternoon.
“As advised by the State Government, and pending no further local cases, the five-day lockdown for the Perth, Peel and South West regions will end at 6pm this evening with the Perth and Peel regions entering into a post-lockdown transition period until 12.01am, Sunday 14 February 2021,” Cr Thomas said.
“For at least the next week we will need to wear a mask when in public and while at work, unless exempt or for vigorous exercise. Schools will re-open from Monday with secondary students and teaching staff also required to wear masks however primary students do not need one.
“All businesses and venues can reopen, except for the casino and nightclubs, but must follow the 4sqm capacity rule, up to a maximum of 150 people. Private indoor and outdoor gatherings are limited to 20 people.”
From this evening, the City’s venues will display maximum numbers allowed given the 4sqm rule and promote COVID-19 hygiene messages reminding people to wash their hands, cover coughs, physically distance, clean surfaces regularly, stay home if unwell and get tested along with using the SafeWA app or manual contact register.
“Contact registers and SafeWA will continue as part of post-lockdown life,” Cr Thomas said. “From 6pm it is mandatory for people to check-in at businesses required to keep a contact register with penalties in place for anyone who ignores the requirement.”
“Libraries, the Visitor Centre, Gallery, Recreation Centres, The Walliston Transfer Station1 and our Community Halls will all be operational tomorrow.”
“The Administration and Operations Centre will be open on Monday. All facilities will operate under their normal hours.”
“Residents are reminded the Walliston Transfer Station1 is closed on any day we have a total fire ban.”
