STRINGS Comes to KPAC

05 April 2022 9:00 AM

S.T.R.I.N.G.S. is a string quartet which really has gone rogue in a story from behind the scenes, in a domain never usually seen by the public: the rehearsal room! With one show only on Saturday 16 April at the Kalamunda Performing Arts Centre, punters are being encouraged to get their tickets quick.

Join four of Perth Symphony Orchestra’s brilliant string players in rehearsal as they work on a program for a fictional upcoming concert. The arguments, egos, humour and even flirtations that each member uses to get their own way (or rather their own music preferences) shed light on how a concert comes together.

Mayor Margaret Thomas said, “This is a show not to be missed. We all need a good laugh, and this show guarantees that!”

S.T.R.I.N.G.S creative director and executive producer Bourby Webster said that this show was definitely not what you’d expect from Orchestral musicians so is great for first-time audiences.

“It will have you laughing and crying in equal measure.”

“Having spent years playing in a string quartet, the things that go on behind the scenes are often totally different to the final, polished, accomplished product the audience sees. I wanted to let audiences into this intimate, passionate, sometimes poignant world of musicians interacting with one another, in order to bring audiences incredible musical experiences.”

“We performed S·T·R·I·N·G·S at the Red Earth Arts Precinct in Karratha in 2020 and received a standing ovation from a packed audience.”

With an attention grabbing mix of classical, rock, pop, electronic and jazz music, this concert has something for everyone regardless of music taste, with the banter between the musicians bringing the music to life in a hilarious way.

Kalamunda Performing Arts Centre is the leading theatre in the Perth Hills, offering a wide range of shows for all ages.

These projects are supported by Playing WA through the State Government’s Royalties for Regions Program as part of the Regional Arts and Cultural Investment Program.
