The City of Kalamunda held a certificate presentation on Monday 24 July to recognise recipients of the 2022/23 Sports Star funding program.

During the ceremony, Mayor Margaret Thomas presented successful athletes with Certificates of Recognition acknowledging their achievements. Participants then had the opportunity to mingle, over afternoon tea.

The City boasts an abundance of gifted athletes representing a wide range of sports including water skiing, baseball, and canoe slalom. Emphasising the depth of talent within the community, a total of $10,250 was allocated to support the aspirations of 43 athletes during the 2022/23 financial year.

Addressing the group, Cr Thomas said, "We are delighted to formally recognise the accomplishments of our sports stars. Their dedication and exceptional performances are an inspiration to all of us."

The Kalamunda Sports Star funding program offers invaluable financial support to athletes selected for State or National representation in their chosen sport. By providing financial assistance towards travel and other associated costs, the program ensures that exceptional talent can thrive and compete on the national stage. Athletes can apply for funding support annually through the City, reaffirming the commitment to serve and uplift the local sports community.

The Kalamunda Sports Star Award is part of the Community Funding Program, and applications for funding are accepted twice a year. The next round of funding applications will close on 31 October 2023.
