Rewards for Residents to Switch Your Thinking
The City of Kalamunda has partnered with Switch Your Thinking, a local initiative dedicated to helping residents live and work towards a sustainable future.
This partnership is in line with the City’s focus on sustainable living, as evidenced by the adoption of its Climate Change Action Plan 2023-2034 last year, marking a significant commitment to addressing climate change.
Switch Your Thinking offers incentives for embracing more sustainable lifestyles, targeting both businesses and residents.
Mayor Margaret Thomas emphasised, “Climate change can have adverse impacts on our community, particularly concerning extreme weather events, a drying climate affecting water supply and vegetation, and an overall rise in average temperatures that can impact vulnerable demographics such as the young and elderly.
“Switch Your Thinking presents an opportunity for our community to align with broader sustainability efforts, support local businesses in adopting eco-friendly practices, and collectively enhance energy efficiency.”
Residents can enjoy a variety of rewards, including discounts on products such as solar panels and pool blankets. In addition to incentives, Switch Your Thinking hosts multiple community workshops aimed at empowering residents with the knowledge to incorporate sustainable practices into their households.
Switch Your Thinking was established in 2002 through a collaboration between the City of Armadale, City of Gosnells, and Shire of Serpentine-Jarrahdale. Its work is closely aligned with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on climate action, sustainable cities and communities, affordable and clean energy, responsible production and consumption, ecosystem health, and fostering partnerships.
