24 April 2024 1:01 PM

Get ready to nurture nature with the City of Kalamunda's Free Plants Giveaway, back for another green-filled year!

This year, the City will offer more than 13,000 native plants to residents. These plants will not only adorn gardens but also play a crucial role in supporting local biodiversity.

Online bookings are set to open 9am, Monday 29 April 2024 via the City's website. Eligible ratepayers can pre-select up to 15 plants per household to be collected on Saturday, 25 May from the Woodlupine Family Centre, Forrestfield. To ensure a seamless experience, plant collections will be divided into one-hour slots.

"Our residents eagerly anticipate this event every year, as it offers a diverse selection of water-wise native plants,” said Mayor Margaret Thomas. “The Plants for Residents program is designed to enrich our neighbourhoods with native flora, creating habitats for local wildlife.

“Over the past 26 years, we've distributed more than 246,000 plants, fostering vibrant gardens and water-wise landscapes throughout our community.”

On collection day, dedicated City staff and plant experts from APACE, will be available to provide guidance on plant care.

Please bring your own eco-friendly containers, such as boxes or bags, along with photo ID and proof of address.
