Join us to listen to Holly Deane–Johns, author of 'Holly's Hell -Seven years in a Thai Prison'.
In this engaging presentation Holly shares her journey, followed by opportunities for the audience to ask questions. Holly's story is not just about survival but also about finding renewed purpose through advocacy and community work. Holly's story is a source of inspiration and hope.
In August 2000, Holly was charged with trafficking heroin to Australia from Bangkok. She was sent to the notorious ‘Bangkok Hilton’ Women’s Prison. Holly endured horrific conditions over the next seven and a half years.
After a lengthy battle to obtain a prison transfer from Thailand, Holly was moved to Bandyup Women’s Prison in Perth 2007, where she served another five years.
While completing her sentence at Bandyup, Holly obtained a Diploma in Youth Work and Certificates in Community Services. Holly is a speaker and community advocate on topics that include substance abuse, PTSD, mental health and domestic violence.
