Cautious Easing of Restrictions Underway
The City, as of today, has commenced implementing Phase 2 restrictions. The City will be assisting local businesses, sporting and community groups whilst also revising all of the City’s operations.
The City of Kalamunda Recovery Management Team has been working hard behind the scenes with Phase 2 delivering a revision in operations for the City’s facilities.
Mayor Margaret Thomas said, “I am pleased to advise the City’s Administration, Operations Centre and the Perth Hills Visitor Centre will all reopen this week with measures in place to control the total number of visitors allowed inside each venue as well as maintaining hygiene requirements.”
The measures put in place and restrictions on total numbers are reflective of the latest State Government guidelines.
“The City’s libraries have maintained a strong community presence, with alternative service delivery models (including click and collect) having been in place for some weeks. This type of alternative service delivery will continue. The libraries will also be open for bookings (with restricted numbers), should members of the public require computer and printing access.”
“We have had so much positive feedback from the community in regards to the level of service that the City of Kalamunda has delivered to our community throughout the restrictions. The CEO and all of the team have worked incredibly hard, just as our whole community has.”
“We should all be very proud of the Western Australian response to the pandemic to date. It is important though, that we do not become complacent, and I echo the sentiment of the Premier and also the Minister for Health in ensuring we maintain social distancing, good hygiene practices and adhere to all of the current restrictions in place as we proceed on the recovery path. There has been much said by the experts in regards to the potential for a second wave, and we can still expect to see new cases. So, we must maintain the pace and ensure we stay ahead of the game!”
Recreation Centres, Kalamunda Performing Arts Centre and the Art Gallery at Zig Zag will all be reviewed as a part of Phase 3 of the Australian Government’s Roadmap to Recovery.
The State Government four-phase roadmap will help get Western Australians back to work safely and begin the process of restarting the State’s economy. It has been developed in conjunction with the National Cabinet principles and is based on the best health advice for WA.

Businesses, sporting and community groups across Western Australia need to comply with conditions outlined in the COVID Safety Guidelines and prepare a COVID Safety Plan before they re-open, to protect staff and the community. The City is on hand to assist any businesses or groups with questions and encourages owners to call 9257 9999 or email enquires@kalamunda.wa.gob.au for assistance.
The City’s response to Phase 3 will be based on the Chief Health Officer’s advice, taking into account infection rates across WA. It is expected to be implemented about 4 weeks from the start of Phase 2.
