Mayor Margaret Thomas said Council is committed to providing ongoing support to the local business sector to help them survive this challenging time.

“We want to ensure we are getting the best information out to our business community to support local businesses and employees,” Cr Thomas said.

“Businesses and their staff are under enormous strain and with the likelihood of a prolonged impact from this virus, it’s important we remind business owners and operating – we’re all in this together.”

As a reminder, the City has a dedicated COVID-19 Business Support page on its website listing all City initiatives introduced to help mitigate the local impacts of the pandemic.

These include the Small Business Advisory Support Program, a free one-hour business consultancy service, in partnership with Business Station; a COVID-19 Business Survey, to understand the impacts and inform new initiatives, which closes 27 May; Business Register Project, to improve communications and information exchanges with the local business community; a newly launched online grants hub, to empower local businesses, community groups, sporting clubs and not-for-profit organisations to easily find and successfully apply for grants; a procurement portal, for local businesses to register their interest in providing goods and services and the Perth Hills Takeaway Guide, to promote local food businesses and operators.

Cr Thomas said now, more than ever, the community must buy local. “Every business relies on their local community for their support and we must come together to support each other and do whatever is necessary to get through the uncertainty,” Cr Thomas said.
