COVID-19 Update: Interim Restrictions Announced 2 July 2021

02 July 2021 4:30 PM

The Perth and Peel four-day lockdown will be lifted at midnight tonight as planned with a staged step down in restrictions for the next 10 days.

Under the new measures – in place until midnight Monday 5 July – mask wearing will remain compulsory and businesses are subject to the 4sqm rule and a maximum of 20 patrons.

Travel is okay however, anyone from Perth or Peel visiting regional areas can only visit hospitality businesses for takeaway for the next few days.

Private gatherings are limited to 10 people indoors and 20 people outdoors. Weddings and funerals can go ahead with a limit of 20 guests.

Mayor Margaret Thomas confirmed City libraries, the Perth Hills Visitor Centre, Zig Zag Gallery, the Walliston Transfer Station, halls and venues for hire will open as per normal from tomorrow subject to the 4sqm rule and/or maximum 20-patron limit.

Assuming everything goes well for these restrictions, and health advice permitting, we intend to reopen the Recreation Centres from 6am Tuesday 6 July with relevant guidelines in place.

“While things may seem uncertain for the next few days and possibly even weeks as we deal with the impact of the latest lockdown, we have done this before, so we know what to do,” Cr Thomas said.

“During this transitional phase, some City events, services and programs need to change so we can adhere to the latest health advice. To avoid disappointment, keep up to date by visiting our website and follow us on social media so you always have the latest information.

“Please follow physical distancing rules and check in using the SafeWA app or manual contact registers, continue to demonstrate appropriate hygiene standards, check latest exposure sites and if you are unwell, get tested and stay home.”

Reminder: Outdoor community sport can resume, but indoor community sport cannot.
Please check with your club or association for latest details regarding fixtures and games planned for the coming days.
