Landowners Urged to Ensure Approvals

03 December 2021 12:00 PM

The City of Kalamunda is reminding landowners to reach out and contact the City before commencing any changes in land use or physical works on site.

Mayor Margaret Thomas said, “The City is there to help landowners to ensure they have all the necessary planning and building approvals before any works are commenced.”

“Community members who are concerned about illegal operations or works without correct approvals are in their rights to contact the City.”

A compliance investigation and subsequent legal action which took place over 2020 and 2021 has recently resulted in more than $85,000 in fines and $17,500 in costs being awarded against two propriety limited companies that were operating on Mundaring Weir Road in Piesse Brook.

Landowners have the opportunity to ensure they have all necessary approvals, and to ensure that they are operating legally. These recent cases showcase what happens if approvals are not in place.

Development approval is generally required if you intend to develop or change the use of your land.

If you have any questions, please contact the City on (08) 9257 9999 during business hours or email us at enquiries@kalamunda.wa.gov.au.
