Annual Street Tree Planting Program Underway
This winter has been particularly chilly but it’s perfect weather to kick off our annual street tree planting program … maybe you’ve seen our crews out and about?
***Update - 22 August 2023***
Contractors have completed installing street trees in Wattle Grove and High Wycombe. Currently planting in Forrestfield then commence in Maida Vale by the end of the week.
We anticipate the program to take approximately more 3 weeks to complete however this is dependent on inclement weather conditions and any other unforeseen delays.
***Update - 14 August 2023***
Contractors have completed installing street trees in selected locations in Wattle Grove and are now in High Wycombe. Following this Forrestfield will be the next planting location on the list.
We anticipate the program to take approximately 4 more weeks to complete, however, this is dependent on inclement weather conditions and any other unforeseen delays.
From mid-July to September the City will be planting approx. 400 trees with all trees selected by an arborist for its suitability in the location and benefits to our environment. The process includes identifying underground services, followed by the mechanical excavation of a pretty big hole for soil conditioner, fertiliser and the tree.
If you want to know more about our street tree program, request a verge tree or enquire about maintenance of verge trees click here or call the City on (08) 9257 9999 or email enquiries@kalamunda.wa.gov.au.
