31 October 2023 10:52 AM

The City of Kalamunda is thrilled to announce the grand re-opening of the Stirk Park Playground and new Skate Park on Saturday, 25 November 2023. This cherished community space is set to unveil its new and improved look, and everyone is invited to join in the festivities.

The official opening, presided over by Mayor Margaret Thomas, will start at 11am, followed by a community event lasting until mid-afternoon. Throughout the day, there will be a series of skate demos, a basketball clinic hosted by Eastern Suns and a free sausage sizzle*.

Mayor Margaret Thomas is eager to welcome the community back, stating, "The re-opening signifies the successful culmination of a collaborative effort between the City and our funding partners, which has resulted in a facility that will serve our community for years to come. We invite all residents to join us as we celebrate this remarkable transformation and create lasting memories at this cherished park.”

The City also extends its sincere gratitude to Lotterywest, the Federal Government's Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program and the Rotary Club of Kalamunda for their invaluable funding contributions to this project.

Parking will be limited due to the park’s popularity. To assist, a free shuttle bus will operate between the City of Kalamunda Administration Building, located at 2 Railway Road, Kalamunda, and Elizabeth Street every 15 minutes from 10.45am to 3pm. Visitors are also encouraged to park in the City Centre and take a short walk to Stirk Park to ensure a seamless experience.
