Planning projects throughout the City hold a range of objectives, including increased amenity, increased employment opportunities, and meeting future population and aged care demands.
The Western Australian Planning Commission's (WAPC) North-East Sub-Regional Planning Framework (the Framework), adopted in March 2018, identifies the majority of Wattle Grove South as Urban Expansion. An eastern portion of Wattle Grove South is identified as Urban Investigation. The City's Local Planning Strategy 2010 identifies Wattle Grove South as an Investigation Area.
Community engagement and Concept Planning is currently underway, occurring during late 2019 to mid-2020. Planning consultant Roberts Day in collaboration with the City are coordinating the process.

Water monitoring will be undertaken during mid-2019 to early 2021. These technical studies will help inform Concept Planning and any future detailed planning.
