Walliston Transfer Station

City of Kalamunda residents do not pay fees for the non-commercial use of the Walliston Transfer Station. 

To gain free access, please ensure you bring:   

  • Entry Pass and your
  • Proof of residency (e.g. Driver’s Licence)
  • Vehicle Permit if applicable (see Vehicle Permits)

Tenants who do not have an Entry Pass (as Landlord wishes to retain it) may gain entry under the following conditions:

  • Tenant shows proof of residency – Driver’s Licence
  • Entry Fee of $51.50 is paid (Note: This Entry Fee is charged for all waste streams including recycling and green waste)
  • If the waste is deemed commercial, the charge will be the Entry Fee plus the applicable fee for the waste
  • If the waste is tyres,  the charge will be the Entry Fee plus the applicable fee for the tyres

Residents cannot give their Entry Pass to a friend, staff member or family member to use on their behalf unless they reside at the same address.  Exceptions are considered and this must be organised with the Waste Department PRIOR to attending the Transfer Station. Residents will be turned away at the gatehouse if they turn up without prior permission being given. 

Note: Entry Passes issued each Financial Year expire on the 31st July of the following Financial Year.

Entry Pass

Find your Walliston Transfer Station Entry Pass in your latest Rates Notice. The Entry Pass will provide you with:

Unlimited entries to dispose of green waste. Items include:

  • branches and stumps (less than 300mm in diameter)
  • lawn clippings (no lawn sod or soil)
  • leaves 
  • prunings

Unlimited entries to dispose of agreed recyclable materials. Items include:

  • clothing and blankets
  • cardboard (with no plastic wrapping) 
  • car batteries
  • colourbond fence panels 
  • dry cell batteries 
  • e-waste (including computers, DVD / CD players, heaters, printers, radios, televisions, vacuums and small electrical) household items
  • fencing wire 
  • fluorescent globes
  • glass bottles only
  • metal of any type (cut to a maximum of 1.5 metre length, width, height and not solid) 
  • motor oil (maximum of 20 litres)
  • paper 
  • polystyrene or styrofoam
  • metal pickets 

Four (4) general waste entries. Items include:

  • air-conditioning ducting 
  • bricks and building rubble (does not include coffee rock) - must be clean with no soil or sand
  • car parts (no bodies) 
  • cement - hard only (no powder)  
  • dvd / cd discs and video tapes
  • fibreglass (cut to a maximum of 1.5 metre length, width, height and not solid) 
  • general household items (includes sofas, bed bases and furniture)
  • glass (including mirrors, glass doors, glassware)
  • gyprock
  • irrigation pipe 
  • limestone 
  • mattresses (includes pillows and cushions)
  • plaster board
  • poly pipe / pvc pipe
  • plastic pot plant containers (or recycle through Claw Environmental)
  • roof insulation 
  • solar panels
  • tyres (fees apply - maximum of 5)
  • timber / wood
  • whitegoods (includes air-conditioners, dishwashers, hot water systems, microwaves, ovens, hotplates, washers, refrigerators and freezers) - these do not need to be degassed as this will be done on-site

The only household hazardous waste (HHW) accepted at Walliston Transfer Station is: batteries, CFL light globes and motor oil).  Refer to the disposal of hazardous materials section for further information about safe disposal options.


The Walliston Transfer Station is for RESIDENTIAL WASTE ONLY. The disposal of commercial waste incurs a waste disposal charge. Commercial fees apply for any of the following situations:
  • Commercial / Trade Waste
  • Your vehicle or trailer is commercially signed or badged (unless you have a Vehicle Permit)
  • Your waste is from a work site
  • You are transporting waste for a fee or reward

Vehicle Permits

Applies to City of Kalamunda residents who use:

  • Vans (max GVM 3.5 tonne)
  • Trucks (max GVM 3.5 tonne)
  • Branded or sign-written vehicles and/or trailers (max GVM 3.5 tonne)
  • Over-sized trailers for green waste only

Residents using a Vehicle Permit are required to also bring their Entry Pass and show their valid Driver’s Licence.

Maximum permitted trailer size 8ft x 6ft (2.4m x 1.8m) for disposal of general waste.
See vehicle permits if you have an oversized trailer.

NO over-sized Trucks or Commercial Loads or Horse Floats. (Maximum GVM of 3.5 tonne)

The City of Kalamunda monitors site usage and reserves the right to make further enquiries of the owner of the vehicle and at the premises from which the waste originated. Waste needs to be carried safely and vehicles bringing waste to the site should at all times comply with the Road Traffic Act (1974).
